Role of the Library

Federation has offered a library service to its members since 1922. In identifying a new role for the Federation Library, Executive at its meeting of 1 May 2007, determined that:

"The Library will provide an Information Service to support the work of the NSW Teachers Federation and to support the professional development needs of members...The Library and Information Service will facilitate knowledge building, knowledge sharing and learning among a community of Federation officers, executive members and members of the Federation."

Services

The Library is available to all Federation members, and has resources related to campaigns, industrial work, equity and professional development issues that are supported by the Federation. Contact the library by phone, fax or email with requests for information or to have specific resources posted to you.

Free access to Internet is provided for members who visit the Library. The Library has a lounge area, where members can relax and watch a DVD, or read the daily papers, new books and journals.

Officers and members using the Library for the Federation's official business have access to additional services, including inter-library loans; current awareness services; and use of a wider range of electronic resources.

Photocopying and printing

The charge for photocopying and printing is 25 cents per A4 sheet of paper. Non-members, authorised to use the Library by the General Secretary, are charged 30 cents. If you need these services for Federation business, there is no charge.
