Aboriginal Members

Information and links relating to Aboriginal Members.

Womens Program

The NSW Teachers Federation Women's Program includes the Anna Stewart Program, Women's Conference and Trade Union Training Courses designed for woman members.

New Scheme and other New Teachers

New Teachers in NSW Public Schools are encouraged to become involved with their union. Information and networking opportunities for new teachers are in this section.

Information for New Scheme Teachers is also included in this section.

Temporary Teachers

This section deals with the employment and leave provisions of Temporary School teachers. These conditions are the result of extensive negotiations between the DET and the NSW Teachers Federations arising from the creation of the Temporary Teachers classification in the 2001-2003 salary award.

Library

Federation has offered a library service to its members since 1922. In identifying a new role for the Federation Library, Executive at its meeting of March 16, 1993 determined that the "New South Wales Teachers Federation Library will provide an information service for Officers and Members of the Federation. The service will include a reference service to answer requests for information from Officers and Members " and "a collection of resources related to the Federation's work, organised for effective retrieval".

Occupational Health & Safety

This section includes the Federation Occupational Health and Safety kit, other OH&S publications and links to external OH&S websites.

The Federation Occupational Health and Safety kit has been made possible by a grant from WorkCover NSW.

The kit includes information for members about Workers Compensation, the formation of OH&S committees and risk assessment.

The kit is intended as a guide only to members' rights and responsibilities in the areas of Occupational Health and Safety and Workers Compensation. Although all information provided has been checked by WorkCover for accuracy, members should not hesitate to seek additional advice and guidance from the Federation and/or WorkCover.

TAFE, AMES and Corrective Services

This section contains information for Federation members employed in TAFE, AMES and Corrective Services.

Newsletters

NSWTF is progressively bringing online a collection of Distance Education Newsletters, Central Schools, Small Schools and OCAA newsletters from within the Federation.

Teacher Librarians

Teacher-Librarians operate in a wide variety of learning environments and structures. Despite the differing modes of delivery and management styles, Teacher-Librarians have the same rights as other teachers.

Report of the Independent Inquiry into Public Education in New South Wales

The New South Wales Public Education Inquiry was an independent inquiry into the structure, conduct and funding of public education in New South Wales. The inquiry was funded by teacher contributions to the Public Education Fund and the Parents & Citizens Association.
